Shoulder Pain – Daisy Hill

shoulder painOur Clinic provides care to shoulder sufferers to the local Daisy Hill area as well as the surrounding suburbs of Springwood, Loganholme, Slacks Creek, Kingston, Woodridge and Chatswood Hills.

Are you in the 10% of people who suffer shoulder pain or dysfunction?

Painful shoulder conditions that restrict movement and use of the arms are common and can arise from injuries to a number of different structures including the shoulder joint, surrounding muscles, tendons, ligaments or bursa (a cushioning structure found around the shoulder joint).  The shoulder is a complex structure, and the most flexible joint in the body. Unfortunately, this high degree of mobility comes at the cost of stability, which is why the shoulder is prone to injury. At Daisy Hill Physiotherapy, our therapists manage shoulder injuries on a daily basis, and we are experts at not only treating your symptoms, but identifying and addressing the underlying cause of your injury, giving you the best possible outcome and a decreased chance of re-injury.

The therapists at Daisy Hill Physiotherapy are experienced in treating shoulder injuries including:

  • Rotator Cuff Tears
  • Tendonitis
  • Impingement Syndrome
  • Bursitis
  • Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis)
  • Dislocations / Subluxations
  • Instability Disorders
  • Acromioclavicular (AC) Joint Injuries
  • Arthritic Conditions
  • Referred shoulder Pain

Shoulder injuries can be the result of gradual wear and tear over time or from a sudden traumatic injury. There are a number of factors that can contribute to or increase your risk of sustaining a shoulder injury. These include:

  • Repetitive overhead or reaching activities, particular under load
  • Rapid acceleration / deceleration – i.e. throwing motion
  • Poor shoulder & scapula biomechanics / muscle imbalances
  • Increasing age
  • Previous traumatic shoulder injury
  • Poor Posture

At Daisy Hill Physiotherapy, your therapist will conduct a thorough examination of the shoulder joint and surrounding structures to determine the underlying cause of your problem.  They will then develop an individualised treatment and rehabilitation regime specifically for you, that will not only get you on the road to recovery, but correct any underlying factors that may have led to your injury, giving you reduced risk of injury recurrence.  Your regime may include the use of a combination of therapies including manual therapy, specific strengthening and flexibility exercises and modifications of movement patterns as determined by the findings of the assessment/evaluation.

Don’t let shoulder pain impact on your life any longer! Call us at Daisy Hill Physiotherapy to arrange an appointment with one of our expert therapists today.
